Join the U.S. Naval Institute at the Jack C. Taylor Conference Center Tuesday, 18 October at 10:30 am for a discussion on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the application of AI in force structure—now and in future. The panel will probe the role of AI in operations, in battle space, on military platforms, and examine how AI changes the nature of naval warfare.

Panelists:

LtGen Michael S. Groen, USMC (Ret.), former director of the Joint Artificial Intelligence Center (JAIC). General Groen was instrumental in planning for the Chief Digital and AI Officer (CDAO) within the Department. He served multiple assignments as a Marine, on the Joint Staff, and the IC. (Confirmed)

Dr. Sam Tangredi, the Leidos Chair of Future Warfare Studies and professor of national, naval, and maritime strategy at the U.S. Naval War College. Dr. Tangredi has published six books on national security issues, including AI at War, of which he is co-editor, and he has held command at sea. (Confirmed)

Moderator:

Dr. Gavin Taylor, Associate Professor, USNA Computer Science Department, whose area of academic specialty is AI and Machine Learning. Dr. Taylor is co-director of USNA’s Center for High Performance Computing Education and Research, and is chairing the development of USNA's new Data Science major. (Confirmed)
