Lieutenant Alkonis is attending Surface Warfare Officers School in Newport, Rhode Island, preparing for his department head tour. His initial division officer tour was on board the USS Fitzgerald (DDG-62) as the first lieutenant and antisubmarine warfare officer, and he also has served at the Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center in San Diego. He holds a degree in oceanography from the U.S. Naval Academy and a master’s in acoustics engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School.
