Lieutenant Commander Stuart J. Ambrose, U.S. Coast Guard Reserve, is a Coast Guard Reserve officer assigned to the U.S. Navy’s Coastal Riverine Squadron 11 and was forward deployed to Task Group 68.6 at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti. He is a recent graduate of the Naval War College’s Fleet Seminar program and has his master of arts in defense and strategic studies. He extends his appreciation to Navy Reserve Lieutenant Commander Justin Lawlor for many discussions on the subject of Africa, the concept of maneuver, and the U.S. role in Africa in the years to come.
