Mr. Burket is the director of the Maritime Incident Response Team (MIRT) and chief of emergency Operations for the Port of Virginia. He is responsible for managing resources, training, and personnel from local fire and law enforcement agencies who participate on the MIRT. He responds and provides assistance to any maritime incident upon request and is the central coordinator for managing first response community partnerships to maintain effective and safe response to all hazards incidents within the port. He is a retired Virginia Beach Fire Department captain who served for more 31 years and holds a Coast Guard 100-ton master license.
