Captain Baker enlisted in 1988 and subsequently graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1994. He served 16 years in submarines before becoming a permanent military professor in the Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering Department at the Academy. He has an extensive background in additive manufacturing, microscopy, and material characterization.
