Commander McCaffree is a 2000 graduate of the University of Idaho and was designated a naval aviator in January 2002. He holds a master’s degree in international affairs from the Naval War College and previously commanded Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 23 in San Diego, California. Following his tour as the MQ-8 Fire Scout requirements officer on the Chief of Naval Operations staff in Washington, DC, he reported to the Fleet Logistics Multi-Mission Wing in San Diego, California, as the deputy commodore.
